Martha Davis (author)

Martha F. Davis (born 1957) is a professor of law at Northeastern University in Boston.[1] She authored the book Brutal Need, a study of the welfare rights movement of 1960 to 1973, and is a native of Kansas.

Before joining the faculty of Northeastern, she served as lead attorney for the National Organization of Women legal defense fund.[1] As such, she served as lead attorney before the Supreme Court at least once, and had smaller roles in a number of other cases.

In recent years Davis has focused on (among other things) the application of international human rights standards to domestic U.S. issues, particularly as they may related to women. .
